Data Orchester and the alternatives
A complete control platform for small and remote plants, at a fraction of what commercial SCADA costs, with technical support included.
Who it is for
Data Orchester is built for the plants that large SCADA prices out: drinking water and wastewater treatment, industrial effluent, pumping stations, heating and cooling, energy, and the remote assets of mining and industry. Small and medium sites, often far away and often on a mobile link, run by a small team.
It gives them what a SCADA gives a large plant - reading the equipment, control logic, panels operators run the plant from, history and alerts - in one installation, on their own servers, at a price set for their size.
Three years of a small plant
A reference plant: one server, about 300 variables over Modbus TCP, web panels that write to the plant, history and alerts by e-mail. These are the list prices each vendor publishes for the licences that cover it:
| Option | What it takes | Three years |
|---|---|---|
| Data Orchester Full | 36 months, 20 % off from twelve months | 864 USD |
| Data Orchester Full, permanent | One payment that never expires | 1,500 USD |
| N3uron | Four modules: Modbus client, historian, web panels and notifications | ≈ 3,680 USD |
| Tatsoft FrameworX | Enterprise edition, 1,500 I/O | 4,500 USD |
| VTScada | 1,000 I/O with history, development, alarm notification and web client | 11,085 USD |
| AVEVA InTouch | Unlimited Standard | 12,360 USD |
| Ignition | Platform, Perspective web panels and alarm notification | 14,670 USD |
Commercial SCADA covering the same plant costs 4 to 17 times more. Most of these vendors also sell a yearly support and upgrade plan, typically 15 to 24 % of the licence a year.
Open-source tools cost nothing to license. In exchange, your team assembles three or four of them, secures them and supports them. Data Orchester arrives as one finished product.
Technical support included
Every Data Orchester licence includes technical support: your technical questions are answered by the engineers who build the product, at no extra cost. When you want more - a design, a commissioning, a whole system built with you - Amtiri's engineering services take it on.
Everything in every edition
Many SCADA platforms price each capability apart: the web client, alarm notification, the historian, each driver. Data Orchester sells size, never modules. Every edition carries:
- every protocol: Modbus TCP and RTU, OPC UA, Siemens S7, EtherNet/IP, IEC 60870-5-104, NMEA 0183, NMEA 2000 and CAN;
- formulas, visual logic blocks, and PID, PWM and Kalman control modules;
- the panel editor, and panels operators act from - every edition but Satelite, the collector for remote sites, displays them;
- loggers, history and alerts by e-mail;
- real-time links between sites;
- sign-in with Active Directory, LDAP, OpenID Connect or SAML;
- the AI assistant.

Your servers, your platform
Seven of the twelve commercial SCADA platforms we compared need a Windows server. Data Orchester runs as a service on Linux, Windows or macOS, on x86 or ARM - from a rack server to a field board - or as a signed container image. One install package serves every operating system, and every release is signed.
Built for remote sites
- A site on a mobile link or behind NAT connects out to the control room: no public address, no VPN and no proprietary router.
- Each site keeps capturing, controlling and logging when the link drops, and its history catches up when the link returns.
- The control room sends setpoints and commands to any site, and each site decides which of its values others may write.
An AI assistant, included
Three chats work inside your configuration. One programs modules, variables and formulas from your requests and the register lists you attach. One designs panels from your P&ID drawings. One explains the plant and suggests an action plan when something goes wrong. Every change is proposed on a card you apply, and nothing is saved without you. It comes with every edition, Free included, at no extra cost: see the AI assistant.
Made in Chile
